FEED THE FLAME (GB) (c, 3, Kingman {GB}–Knyazhna {Ire}, by Montjeu {Ire}), who stood out from the crowd enough to warrant a TDN Rising Star tag on debut over 10 1/2 furlongs here earlier this month, was dropped out last of the quintet early by a confident Christophe Soumillon. Looming large on the outer to take command 300 metres from the finish, the 7-2 second favourite was under hand riding to assert his obvious superiority and score without breaking sweat by 1 1/4 lengths from First Minister (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}). “It was the test and education that my horse needed,” trainer Pascal Bary said. “It was a truly-run race, he was perfectly relaxed and quickened brilliantly. For sure he is a very good horse. He will first be supplemented for the [G1] Prix du Jockey Club and in due time he will stay a mile and a half. I would love to win the Arc.” The winner is a half-brother to Sacred Life (Fr) (Siyouni {Fr}), winner of the G3 Prix Thomas Bryon, GIII Monmouth S. and GIII Knickerbocker S. who has also been third in the GI Arlington Million and G Maker's Mark Mile. The unraced dam, who also produced the G2 Prix Hocquart and G3 Prix du Lys-placed Khagan (Ire) (Le Havre {Ire}), is a half to the dual group 2-placed sire Migwar (Ire) (Sea The Stars {Ire}) and a granddaughter of the Listed Rose Bowl S. winner Crystal Crossing (Ire) (Royal Academy). She in turn produced the G1 St Leger-winning sire Rule Of Law (Kingmambo). Feed The Flame's siblings . Her 2-year-old colt Gulf Legend (Fr) (Dubawi {Ire}) was a €300,000 private sale at the Arqana Deauville August Sale. Sales history: €270,000 Ylg '21 ARQAUG. Lifetime Record: 2-2-0-0, €27,500.
